What happened? New Life in Christ Interdenominational Church in O’Fallon, Illinois, awarded $41,000 in college scholarships to 21 Metro East high school graduates during its annual Celebration of Education baccalaureate service in July 2026.

Why it matters: With federal student aid becoming harder to secure, these scholarships ease financial burdens for college-bound students. Over the past 23 years, the church has distributed $440,000 to nearly 230 local students across Illinois and Missouri.

O’FALLON, Ill. — Continuing a tradition of community empowerment and academic support, New Life in Christ Interdenominational Church has officially awarded over $41,000 in scholarships to 21 exceptional high school graduates across the Metro East region for 2026.

The announcement was made during the church’s annual Celebration of Education baccalaureate service, an event dedicated to recognizing academic milestones for students transitioning across all levels—from elementary and middle school to high school, college, and graduate programs.

Over Two Decades of Educational Investment

Since its inception 23 years ago, New Life in Christ Church has remained steadfast in its core mission to support youth through higher education. With this latest round of funding, the church has now provided $440,000 in financial aid to nearly 230 college-bound students throughout the St. Louis metropolitan area across Illinois and Missouri.

In addition to church-sponsored funds, this year’s awards featured several newly established memorial scholarships, recognition for personal achievements, and a unique grant funded directly by participants of the church’s Financial Peace Bible study class.

“Obtaining financial assistance through traditional federal government-backed student loans and grants is becoming more difficult to secure. The New Life Scholarship program provides the support many students need to ease the financial burdens they may face upon entering college.”

Bishop Geoffrey V. Dudley, Sr., PhD, DMin, Senior Pastor

Rigorous Standards and Community Service

Scholarship recipients are chosen through a competitive process. Candidates must demonstrate high academic standing, a strong commitment to community service, and submit essays addressing designated topics. Top candidates then undergo interviews with New Life’s scholarship committee, with awards ranging from $800 to $5,000.
