Sustainable Senior Living Community Opens in Fairview Heights
FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, Ill. (Aug. 2, 2026) – A new sustainable senior living community officially opened its doors today as local leaders gathered for a ribbon-cutting ceremony at North Bend Residences – A Village of New Life. The $21 million project offers affordable housing for independent seniors aged 62 and older, as well as military veterans. Developed by New Life Community Development Corporation (New Life C.D.C.) alongside Affordable Housing Developers/Consultants, LLC (AHDVS), this sustainable senior living community directly addresses the growing regional demand for accessible housing.
Financing for the development was secured through Low-Income Housing Tax Credits provided by the Illinois Housing Development Authority, with additional funding support from U.S. Bank, the Affordable Housing Program, and the Illinois Facilities Fund.
“We are excited to see this project completed and to meet the housing needs of seniors and veterans living in Fairview Heights and surrounding St. Clair County. Many residents moving into North Bend Residences have been on housing waiting lists. We also wanted to ensure this community provided access to on-site social services support through local agency partnerships.”
— Dr. Geoffrey V. Dudley, Sr., Founder and President of New Life C.D.C.

Tackling the Senior Housing Crisis in St. Clair County
According to data reported by Shelterforce, older adults living on fixed incomes face mounting pressures from rising rental costs and healthcare expenses. Recent policy adjustments to assistance programs have intensified rental cost challenges across many income levels. By opening this sustainable senior living community, project leaders hope to provide high-quality housing stability to local residents who need it most.
