Legendary comedian George Wallace brings timeless comedy back to St. Louis for a two-night stand at Helium Comedy Club. Dubbed “The New Mr. Vegas,” Wallace delivers his signature observational wit, spontaneous crowd interaction, and warm, sharp-tongued humor to Gateway City comedy fans. Beyond his legendary stand-up career and historic decade-long Las Vegas residency, Wallace continues to captivate audiences on screen, starring alongside Laverne Cox in Norman Lear’s historic project Clean Slate on Prime Video.

There are comedians who tell jokes—and then there are legends who create experiences. George Wallace proved exactly why he belongs in the latter category during his unforgettable run at Helium Comedy Club St. Louis from July 17th through July 19th.
With a career spanning over five decades, Wallace didn’t just perform,he connected, he reflected, and most importantly, he reminded St. Louis what real laughter feels like.
A Calling That Started Early
Long before the bright lights of Las Vegas and national recognition, Wallace’s journey began with a simple but powerful realization at just six years old—he was meant to make people laugh. Interestingly, St. Louis played a role in shaping that dream.
Recalling his early inspiration, Wallace shared how his parents would play party records from comedy greats like Redd Foxx and Richard Pryor—music and humor that wasn’t meant for young ears. But curiosity took over.
“When our parents left the house, we’d sneak and listen,” Wallace said. “I took those jokes to school… and ever since then, I knew I wanted to make people laugh.”
That spark turned into a 50-year career built on faith, consistency, and purpose. “I thank God that I’m still able to do this,” he added.
His accolades include a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Soul Train/Centric Comedy All-Star Awards and being named Best Stand-Up Comedian at the American Comedy Awards after four consecutive nominations.
At Helium, Wallace delivered something audiences won’t soon forget—a show that felt alive.
“I don’t know, I just do what the crowd wants me to do—and they love it,” he said. “They engage with me. I just have fun around St. Louis. There’s always something to laugh about.”
That unpredictability is the magic of a George Wallace show. No script. No limits. Just real-time connection. His signature “I Be Thinkin’” style turned everyday thoughts into explosive laughter, while his crowd work made every person in the room feel like part of the act.
Adding to the energy was St. Louis native Willie Moore Jr., who hosted the show with charisma and humor. Known for his transformation from early 2000s artist “Pretty Willie” into a nationally syndicated inspirational voice, Moore brought warmth and relatability—blending personal stories, family humor, and quick wit that had the crowd rolling before Wallace even took the stage.
“The Saint and The Aints”: A Show for Everybody
Wallace described his show as “The Saint and The Aints—Which one are you?”—a concept that perfectly captured the diverse energy inside the room.
“Cause I knew we were gonna have a good time,” he said. “The young people are bringing their parents out… they’re enjoying each other.”
In classic Wallace fashion, he joked about his audience being the “AARP crowd,” but what stood out most was the unity—different generations laughing together, sharing a moment that felt bigger than comedy.
A Legacy Still Being Written
From headlining at the Flamingo Hotel in Las Vegas—where he earned the title “The New Mr. Vegas”—to performing for U.S. troops around the world, Wallace has built a career rooted in joy, generosity, and authenticity.
He’s also an author of Laff It Off and currently stars in the Amazon Prime series Clean Slate, continuing to evolve while staying true to his voice.
But when asked how he wants to be remembered, Wallace didn’t talk about awards or titles.
“I hope you enjoyed life like I did,” he said. “And when you laugh—die laughing. And love one another.”
More Than a Comedy Show
What George Wallace brought to St. Louis wasn’t just stand-up—it was a reminder.
A reminder that laughter heals.
That connection matters.
And that sometimes, the best moments in life come when you’re simply… enjoying the show.
For those who were in the building, it wasn’t just another night out—it was an experience. And for those who missed it, one thing is certain:
George Wallace is still thinkin’… and the world is still laughing.
